Murphy’s Law

Murphy’s Law states that what can go wrong will go wrong and what is bad can get worse.  That was my today.  It started at four o’clock this afternoon when the faucet in my sink was broken.  Of course I was cooking for friends so I didn’t really have time to take care of it.  I ran out, bought a new faucet so I could take care of it after dinner.

It just figured that on a night I was short on time, definitely needed running water in my kitchen, and had lots of things still to do, I had to deal with this little set back.  So after dinner, I went to work to get this faucet taken care of and flooded my kitchen when one of the valves didn’t turn off.  No matter which way I turned it, the water kept on running.  I was able to get the hose back on and then went to find the main water line.  I called my Dad, the hero, and he came and helped me get the faucet changed out.  I know I definitely could not have gotten the old faucet out, though I think I would have been fine installing the new one.  In any case, it was an awesome evening.

To my friends who came to dinner, we love you and so enjoyed having you tonight, and you were definitely NOT part of Murphy’s Law Smile.

After a flooded kitchen, the new faucet is in. . . YAY for running water! I don’t know how my friend did with out her kitchen sink for over a year while her kitchen was being remodeled, she is a saint and a better pioneer than I!

SuperMoon

Tonight was supposed to be the biggest moon in decades.  Van, my neighbor called and invited us to go to the beach and take pictures.  We also included my other neighbor, Joanna.  We had a great time playing with the kids while we waited and enjoyed the beautiful colors of the “supermoon!”

Baseball, a first for us

This year instead of soccer, Hi Hi wanted to try baseball.  I had a great time taking pictures of him and his team today.  He also has a great coach, Coach Fell.  He is also one of the counselors in our Bishopric.

Yay for Popcorn, Peeps, and Skype!

Some of the first plants to bloom in the spring here are the pear (popcorn) tree and the daffodils.  I love seeing these blossoms, it means that warmth and sunshine is on the way.  I was out talking with my neighbor and the sight of the pear tree in my yard caught my breath.  My last post showed the buds, now we have the blossoms.

After dinner tonight we had Peep wars.  We had tons of Peeps left over from a baby shower, so we decided to make those marshmallow chicks battle it out.  The troops lined up, were put under fire (in the microwave) and the one to remain un-stabbed wins.

After the great battle, it was time for story time before bed  I was grateful that I got a night off and the kids enjoyed the new voice.  If you can’t see, Dan is reading to the kids through Skype.  I am so grateful for this program.

Oreo was just being too silly, I had to get a quick picture of our almost two year old puppy.

The Sunshine State

We had the opportunity to head down and visit Dan while he was in FL.  We loved being able to relax and be a whole family.  We stayed in the same hotel we did in the fall and enjoyed its beautiful gardens and beaches.  We were able to go put-put golfing, relax at the beach, play shuffle board, and enjoy the warm sun.
