This past art class the kids learned a Japanese form of painting, using dead fish. By their faces, you can tell that they were a little hesitant about this project, but the pictures turned out really cool!
Then FINALLY FINALLY WE HAVE VEGGIES FROM OUR GARDEN!!!! YAY YAY YAY!!!!!! We planted our little winter garden, hoping that maybe with the cold, the animals wouldn't steal all of our veggies. I had hoped we could have harvested earlier than now, but I am definitely not complaining! We have a little bit of winter cabbage a broccoli. I am so excited. We made ourselves a little salad and enjoyed our homegrown veggies. I planted an indoor herb garden, which I am looking forward too and have started our tomatoes indoors. I hope to grow radishes, pole beans, and few other veggies I haven't decided on yet.
And tonight I had the wonderful opportunity of having dinner with Governor McDonnell. My father had tickets for the event and invited me to join him. The dinner was in honor of Abraham Lincoln and I enjoyed it. I had the opportunity to meet and speak with him a few moments, as well as meet Congressman Rob Wittman and his wife. It was a very nice evening! Thank you Dad! As a side note, I did try to get a picture with him, but the lady that said she would take it didn't know how to work the camera and thought she had taken it, when I went to check it wasn't there :-(
We have a few more exciting events, which I will post after. Tomorrow morning we have the commissioning of the USS New Mexico down in Norfolk and then we have an awesome Primary Activity. I will have more pictures to post tomorrow.
