It has been an exciting year so far. Our family has stayed very busy and has some interesting things going on. First, I started my own business. That has been fun, laying the ground work for it and getting the ball rolling. Dan has been having fun sailing up and down the VA waterways. He has been a vessel commander for a few months now and has enjoyed being in charge.

Hiram has had the most interesting past few months. He was in the hospital with a severe case of strep. He ended up getting an abscess in the back of his throat and had to have surgery to have it drained. He stayed in the hospital for four days and actually enjoyed his time. He was in the Pediatrics ward at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. They had a play room with lots of toys, games, books, and movies, so he did alright.

This month he learned how to ride his bike without training wheels. That has been exciting for him. He is doing a great job, especially since the training wheels just came off on Saturday. Noleigh is so excited that she will soon be able to ride with her brother. It has been a lot of fun getting them on bikes. I'm excited about our family bike rides!
Monday afternoon, we went for a bike ride at the Sentara track off of Butler Farm Rd. It was one of our favorite places to go for walks and bike rides. The pictures above were taken there. On our bike ride, Noleigh and I were talking about the distance and fractions, which she is learning about in school. It was funny because she said I could demonstrate the fractions for her on a cupcake we had at home. She is always trying to get a treat. What a sweet tooth she has, just like her father.
